Hamish Beattie, a PhD candidate in Architecture, in collaboration with Daniel K. Brown, Professor of Studio Design at Victoria, have created a compelling design concept for the Chinese Scholars\u2019 Studio based on an &#8216;exploded&#8217; interrogation of the printing press.<\/p>\n<p>The studio design concept bridges the rich history of the Chinese community in Wellington and letterpress printing with new materials and technologies. The Chinese Scholars\u2019 Studio includes an adjacent exhibition area as well as a modest outdoor garden, seamlessly stitching Wai-te-ata Press into a new tapestry of intercultural communication.
